Meet Our Staff

Welcome to our website which I hope will acquaint you with our life and ministry in The Parish of Grand Manan. My name is David and I am the parish priest. As we continue to update our new website we hope our photos and announcements will express the love, joy and compassion of our parish life and we welcome you to join whether you are a visitor or new  to Grand Manan , someone wondering about Christianity or as someone who wishes to join our parish family.

 

I am writing this message on the eve of Trinity Sunday when we celebrate the love of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.  We are so blessed to live on such a beautiful island where the mighty waves pound upon the steep cliffs , and tiny buttercups adorn the meadows. There are so many opportunities to praise God the creator of heaven and earth as we go about our lives or visit the island. We gather in worship with thanksgiving and we invite you to join us.

 

Marked on one of the walking trails is a sign that points to the location where a brave man risked his life and climbed down the steep cliff to rescue a shipwrecked fisherman. To me this is a local example of someone willing to lay down his life for another which points us to God the Son Jesus who did lay down His life for all of us. We gather in worship to remember and to be nourished in this amazing grace of God the Son and we invite you to join us.

 

There are a lot of days filled with mighty winds and days of gentle breezes here on the island which remind us of the life-giving breath of God the Holy Spirit who empowers us to love and proclaim the Good News of Jesus. We gather in worship to be blessed in the power of God the Holy Spirit.

 

Through the week we seek to care for people in need both on the island and throughout the world. We gather for Bible Study and small group opportunities and sometimes we just get together to have fun and enjoy each other. We welcome you to participate in any of these gatherings.

I am always happy to talk and pray with folks and eager to answer any questions you might have. If we can serve you we are happy to help out and everyone is very welcomed to the Parish of Grand Manan.
